Alzheimer's Association Seeking Local Volunteers to Educate Communities Across Georgia

Friday, October 8th, 2021

More than 150,000 Georgians are living with Alzheimer’s along with another 334,000 unpaid caregivers. The number of people who will be diagnosed is expected to increase by 26.7% by 2025. Because of the significant increase,   Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter are looking for volunteers in every Georgia community to help educate individuals and families about Alzheimer’s and dementia.

“We often hear from families and caregivers when they are at critical stages with a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia”, added Jill Disney, Sr. Program Director, Georgia Chapter. “It is extremely important for all families to get ahead and understand the issues they will face during their journey with this disease and learn ways to handle situations and the important steps to take. This is why we are offering a one hour virtual event -  ALZ Volunteer 101, so people who are interested in volunteering can learn more about the organization and the impact they can make in their community”, she added.

ALZ Volunteer 101 will take place on Tuesday, October 26 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. To register, visit https://tinyurl.com/VOL102621

Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter continues to offer free virtual education programs to help all Georgia caregivers and their families. Launched in early April 2020, in response to the impact COVID-19 was having on those affected by dementia, the Alzheimer's Association offers a number of live education programs that can help those living with Alzheimer’s and their families understand what to expect so they can be prepared to meet the changes ahead.
