The Board of Directors of Mercy Health Center is proud to announce the hiring of Mike Pilcher as its new Executive Director. Pilcher will assume his duties beginning Monday, August 2, 2021.

“We believe Mike is the right person to continue to grow and expand the health-based ministry Mercy offers. We’re excited about what the future holds for the Center and the positive impact Mercy can continue to have on this community,” said Neil Stevens, Chairman of the Board.

Pilcher, a graduate of the University of Georgia, has nearly twenty years of healthcare marketing, communications, public relations and leadership experience with Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center. He was most recently the Director of Field Marketing for the Piedmont Healthcare System.

He has and continues to serve the Athens-area in many volunteer roles as a current Youth Leader at Athens First United Methodist Church, a current member of the Advisory Board for Extra Special People, a past member of the L.E.A.D Athens Steering Committee, a former Vice President of the Athens Athletic Hall of Fame, the past Chairman of the March of Dimes Advisory Board, past President of the Georgia Society of Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations, and the past President of both the Georgia Jaycees and the Athens Jaycees.

He believes his experience marries well with the mission and vision of the Mercy Center.

“I’ve been a part of this community for twenty-five years and have worked in healthcare for nearly twenty years. There are people that need basic, but also whole-person healthcare that can’t get that anywhere other than Mercy. I’m excited about leading that mission and spreading that word,” said Pilcher.

Mercy Health Center has provided FREE Medical, Dental, Pharmacy and Health Education to the low-income uninsured of Clarke, Barrow, Jackson, Madison, Oglethorpe & Oconee counties for more than 17 years. The Center is able to carry out its mission and serve almost 3,000 patients annually with the help of almost 700 generous volunteers and donors.

Mercy provides quality, whole-person healthcare in a Christ-centered environment to underserved neighbors.
