BankSouth’s Bedsole Earns National Certification
Friday, July 30th, 2021
Jim Bedsole, Chief Compliance and Risk Officer for BankSouth, was recently awarded the Certified Enterprise Risk Professional (CERP) designation from the American Bankers Association (ABA).
The CERP certification is awarded to individuals who demonstrate excellence in the field of bank enterprise risk management. To qualify for CERP certification, individuals must have certain levels of experience and education in the risk management profession, pass an exam and agree to abide by a code of ethics. The CERP exam covers credit risk, financial risk and non-financial risk.
Financial services professionals, working through the ABA, initiated the CERP certification in order to establish meaningful standards of knowledge in specialty areas of the financial services industry. ABA Professional Certifications formally recognize those who meet these standards and meet professional continuing education and development requirements. This certification promotes the highest standards of performance in the financial services industry by validating an individual's knowledge and expertise.
Bedsole has been with BankSouth for the past seven years and is responsible for ensuring appropriate risk management programs are in place and operating effectively for regulatory compliance management adhering to rules applicable to the financial services industry.
