'Athens Changed my Life': Restaurateur Credits Grandparents with Recipe for His Success

Former Clarke Central High School athlete Derrick Hayes hails from Philadelphia, Pa., but the cheesesteak recipe that he credits with increasing the revenue of his restaurant business was born in his grandparents' kitchen in Athens.
Hayes, who owns two Big Dave's Cheesesteaks restaurants in the Atlanta area, will be bringing his food truck to the Vendi Cru beauty and fashion boutique in the Mission Square Shopping Center on Atlanta Highway from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
