Virtual Jack-O-Lantern Jog and Goblin Fun Run

Staff Report

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020

The Jack -O’- Lantern Jog, benefitting Sandy Creek Nature Center, is a fall tradition that spans nearly 20 years. This year, due to COVID-19 social distancing regulations, a race with 200 people on the Greenway isn’t possible, so the event is going virtual!

Online registration is underway at www.sandycreeknaturecenterinc or by mail.  T-shirts may be picked up Sandy Creek Nature Center or mailed.

Participants may run a one-mile (Goblin Fun Run) course or a 5K course anytime between Saturday, October 24 and until 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 31.  The 5K course on the Greenway is clearly marked and registrants are welcome to have their run there. Of course, no one even has to leave one’s living room, just run the course on a treadmill!  Run in costume and email a photo to [email protected], and staff will post it on our Facebook page.  This step is purely optional!

Participants should report their time at http://tiny.cc/JOJ5KTimes

This event benefits Sandy Creek Nature Center Inc., the non-profit support organization which founded the nature center over 40 years ago. It now works with Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services in support of the environmental education and natural resources preservation efforts of the Nature Center.
