U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) began introducing legislative proposals as part of her USA Restoring & Igniting the Strength of our Economy (USA RISE) Plan, a framework to reinvest in America, grow jobs and help families amid the coronavirus. Loeffler first introduced two bills that support the “Families in the USA” pillar of the plan.

The Working Families Childcare Access (WFCA) Act gives more flexibility to working families by allowing parents to contribute more to their employer-sponsored Dependent Care Cafeteria Plan Flexible Spending Account (FSA). It also allows any leftover funds at the end of the year to roll over to the following year.

Loeffler also introduced the Limiting Infant Fatality and Empowering Nonprofit Organization Workforces (LIFE NOW) Act to allow larger nonprofits such as YMCAs and faith-based groups to receive Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans and to prohibit taxpayer dollars from funding abortion providers.

Loeffler plans to introduce additional legislation in the coming weeks.

“The steps we’ve taken as a country to combat this unprecedented health crisis have dramatically impacted Georgians’ lives and livelihoods. To help bring back our thriving economy, I am introducing legislative proposals as part of my USA RISE Plan,” Loeffler said. “One pillar of that framework is Families in the USA. It is time we recognize that economic damage causes societal damage. When a parent loses their job or child care, the whole family suffers.

“As our country begins to look forward amid the coronavirus pandemic, we need to support families in building strong futures. These legislative proposals will help Georgia families make plans for child care as they begin to go back to work and support churches, YMCAs and other nonprofits who have stepped up and are providing meals and other services to families. While we will continue to fight the coronavirus on the health front, I will continue to do all I can to help Georgia families.”

Loeffler, who was named to the President’s Opening Up America Again Congressional Group, spent nearly three decades in the private sector helping build and grow small and large businesses and helping to create thousands of jobs. She most recently was the CEO of a financial technology firm.
