Monday, October 7th, 2019
The Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) will host its Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 24, at The Classic Center. The local tourism industry will gather to celebrate the importance of tourism and contributions of the workforce. CVB Director Chuck Jones and staff will review FY19 accomplishments and discuss the Bureau's plan of work for FY 20. Calendar year 2018 county-level economic impact figures will be cited from the recently released Georgia Department of Economic Development report. The Annual Hospitality Awards will also be presented, including the Classic Host Award, Louis Griffith Hospitality Leadership Award, Partner of the Year Award and the Hospitality H.E.R.O.E.S. of the Year Award.
“We would like to invite the entire tourism community, as well as other partners that are invested in Athens as a tourism destination, to hear about the successes from this previous year and discuss what is to come in this upcoming year,” says Jones. “Tourism is a very important economic generator for Athens, and we are proud to represent such a diverse community of local businesses, artists and entrepreneurial-minded ventures that collectively make Athens truly unique.”
