Habitat for Humanity International has received a $429,000 grant from the Travelers Foundation, the charitable arm of Travelers, marking 17 years of funding.

“Travelers’ enduring support of Habitat has had a tremendous impact in communities across the country,” said Lynda Smith, senior director of Corporate Relations for Habitat for Humanity International. “We are proud of the work we are doing together to help families secure a place to call home.”

The grant will be used to help fund the construction of more than 40 affordable homes across the United States. Travelers employees will help build these homes, working alongside families in need of affordable housing. The funding will also be used to help make six homes in cities prone to hurricanes and tornadoes more resilient against these natural disasters.

“We have a strong commitment to ensuring the vitality of the communities we call home,” said Marlene Ibsen, vice president of Community Relations for Travelers and chief executive officer and president of the Travelers Foundation. “Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity is a reflection of that commitment, and we’re pleased to have the opportunity to provide not only funding but also thousands of volunteer hours to help families build affordable and resilient homes.”

Through corporate funding and the Travelers Foundation, Travelers targets its giving to organizations that focus on improving academic and career success, developing thriving neighborhoods and creating culturally enriched communities. Since 2002, Travelers has donated more than $5.6 million to Habitat.
