U.S. Senator David Perdue (R-GA) addressed over 2,000 business and community leaders at Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s annual congressional luncheon.
 
Highlights:
 
Best State For Business: “After four and a half years as the outsider in the belly of the beast, let me tell you: Washington could learn a lot from Georgia. Georgia has been named the best state in the country in which to do business for six straight years. That did not happen by accident. We have a tax structure that encourages capital investment, a regulatory environment that allows for innovation and risk-taking, and a state government that funds its operation on time.”
 
Jumpstarting The Economy: “After eight years of the lowest economic growth in U.S. history, President Trump said that job one was to grow the economy. I was in the Oval Office two weeks after President Trump was inaugurated to help determine the agenda for the first two years. We decided to focus on regulations, energy, taxes, and Dodd-Frank in order to get the economy going.”
 
Unleashing The Free-Enterprise System: “We’re letting the free-enterprise system work, and as a result, we are now experiencing the greatest economic turnaround in U.S. history. We have created over six million new jobs. We have the lowest total unemployment in 50 years and the lowest African-American, Asian-American, and Hispanic unemployment ever measured. We have the highest middle-class income in the history of our country.”
 
Period Of Prosperity: “We are setting ourselves up for a period of continued growth if we so choose. However, because of extremism in our political process, America could choose not to do that.”
 
What’s At Stake: “Make no mistake: the free-enterprise system is under attack in America. If you participate in the free-enterprise system — and I know you do — you cannot sit by and watch the development of a central government-managed economy. I’ve worked under these conditions in other countries. Trust me, if we don’t stand up for the free-enterprise system, we’re going to lose the ability to do all the things we need to do as a society. You and I need to stand together and tell the world that we will never let anyone threaten the free-enterprise system in America.”
