Piedmont Athens Community Care Clinic Opens Eye Care Clinic

Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center’s Community Care Clinic, which serves patients regardless of insurance status in the Athens-area community, has opened an Eye Clinic for people in the Athens area who are in need of eye screenings and other eye care services.
“We’re very pleased to be able to offer this new specialty service to our patients in the community,” said Cindy Carmean, director of operations at Piedmont Athens Regional’s Community Care Clinic. “Our clinic’s mission is to provide quality access for and continuity of care to the patients we serve, and this new service allows us to better serve our patients.”
The Community Care Clinic on Prince Ave. in Athens, which first opened its doors in May 2016, offers regular check-up visits for adults, sick visits, immunizations/vaccinations and management of chronic illnesses, such as diabetes.
Resident physicians with Piedmont Athens Regional’s Graduate Medical Education Program manage the clinic’s services, working under the supervision of hospital physicians, and the services the clinic provides are supported through the Piedmont Athens Regional Foundation.
The Eye Clinic is the newest addition to the Community Care Clinic’s specialty services offered, which also include endocrinology, pulmonology, nephrology, hematology and, oncology, infectious disease, and geriatric services.
Patients seen in the Eye Clinic can receive basic eye screenings, prescriptions for corrective lenses, and treatment common eye conditions, provided by resident physicians under the supervision of local ophthalmologist Jing Dong, M.D.
