Four graduating seniors from Oconee County High School have been named Georgia Scholars, a prestigious recognition from the Georgia Department of Education. Around 250 students from across the state in both public and private schools have been named to the list, and four of the five students selected from Northeast Georgia are students in Oconee County.

“We offer our congratulations to these outstanding graduating seniors selected as Georgia Scholars for displaying excellence in academics, extracurricular activities, and in the community,” said Superintendent Jason Branch. “We applaud these seniors, as well as their parents and teachers, for their consistent hard work and dedication to achieving success.”

Through the Georgia Scholar program, the Georgia Department of Education identifies and honors high school seniors who have achieved excellence in school and community life. Honorees are students who have carried exemplary course loads during their four years of high school; who performed excellently in all courses; who successfully participated in interscholastic events at their schools and in their communities; and who have assumed active roles in extracurricular activities sponsored by their schools. Each Georgia Scholar receives a seal for his or her diploma.
