ACC Leisure Services Department Seeks Public Input
Thursday, May 23rd, 2019
The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department is seeking input through a community needs assessment as part of the “ACC Leisure Services 2030” project, which is the ten year plan for the future of the department. The Leisure Services Department has partnered with the Carl Vinson Institute of Government to implement the survey. Community input and guidance is essential for the development of this important document, which will shape the future of Athens parks, programs and facilities.
The Community Needs Assessment is currently underway at www.survey.uga.edu/leisureservices. This survey is designed to identify high level needs and service gaps in the parks, programs and facilities associated with Leisure Services. Each household that completes the survey will receive two one-day passes to a Leisure Services Aquatics facility or two one-day passes to Sandy Creek Park. The survey will be open until midnight on Sunday, July 14, 2019. The survey is available in English and Spanish, and is mobile responsive. Residents who do not have access to a smart phone are invited to use the public computer labs at East Athens Community Center, Lay Park, and Rocksprings Park.
“We are very excited about how Leisure Services can continue to play an integral role in building Athens as a healthier and more livable community by providing opportunities to learn, create and play in quality parks, programs and facilities that are valued by our citizens,” says Mel Cochran-Davis, Leisure Services Assistant Director. “Our parks and programs have been woven into the fabric of life in Athens. We want to build on that tradition and make sure that we are providing these experiences for all Athenians.”
As part of community outreach efforts, staff will be on hand at a variety of events throughout the community.
