Animal Control

The Animal Control Shelter will be closed Monday, May 27 and will resume regular hours on Tuesday, May 28.

Animal Control officers will not be available for non-emergency calls Monday, May 27. Non-emergency service calls will resume on Tuesday, May 28.

Emergency services – such as an animal bite, a seriously sick or injured animal, or an animal trapped inside a living space of a home – will be provided throughout the holiday by calling 911.

Leisure Services

ACC Leisure Services parks will operate under their regular hours on Monday, May 27.

All other department facilities (Sandy Creek Nature Center, Lyndon House Arts Center, all community centers) will be closed on Monday, May 27.

Bishop Park, East Athens Community Center, Lay Park, and Memorial Park pools and the Rocksprings Park pool and Splash Pad will be open on Memorial Day from 1:00-5:30 p.m. Trail Creek Splash Pad will be open 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. There is a $1 admission fee for all pools and splash pads.

All parks and facilities will reopen Tuesday, May 28 under regular hours of operation.

Solid Waste

Solid Waste offices will be closed on Monday, May 27.

Residential garbage and recycling will be delayed by one day. Normal Monday collection will take place on Tuesday, Tuesday collection on Wednesday, Wednesday collection on Thursday, Thursday collection on Friday, and Friday collection on Saturday.

Downtown district commercial curbside, roll cart, and dumpster garbage and recycling services will be collected as regularly scheduled. 

All other commercial curbside, roll cart, and dumpster garbage and recycling services will be delayed by one day. Normal Monday collection will take place on Tuesday, Tuesday collection on Wednesday, Wednesday collection on Thursday, Thursday collection on Friday, and Friday collection on Saturday.

Leaf & limb collection will delay pickup by one day, beginning on Tuesday, May 28 through Saturday, June 1 in Area E.

The recycling center will operate under a reduced schedule from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 27. Regular hours of 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. resume on Tuesday, May 28.

The landfill will be closed Monday, May 27. It will resume its regular operating schedule of 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28.

The CHaRM site will be closed Monday, May 27. It will resume its regular operating schedule of 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29.

Transit

Transit offices are closed and bus service is suspended on Monday, May 27.

All Transit services will resume Tuesday, May 28.

Other Offices

All general departmental administrative offices and facilities (City Hall, Courthouse, Satula Avenue Building, Dougherty Street Governmental Building) will be closed on Monday, May 27. Regular hours of operation will resume Tuesday, May 28.
