Attorney General Chris Carr has partnered with Responsibility.org as part of Alcohol Responsibility Month to release a public service announcement. The PSA features Carr and five-time gold medalist and Olympic champion swimmer Nathan Adrian discussing the importance of talking with kids about the dangers of underage drinking and the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.

“Underage drinking is not only harmful in many ways to Georgia’s children and teenagers, but it is also illegal,” said Attorney General Chris Carr. “Parents have the greatest impact on their kids’ decision to drink or not to drink alcohol, so I encourage parents to have conversations early and often about the risks of underage drinking.”

“April is Alcohol Responsibility Month, and as we continue our mission to eliminate underage drinking, we want to remind parents how important conversations with their kids are,” said Dr. Ben Nordstrom, Executive Director of Responsibility.org. “It’s one of the main reasons that we developed our underage drinking prevention program, Ask, Listen, Learn: Kids and Alcohol Don’t Mix.”

From 2003 to 2016, conversations between kids and their parents have increased 73 percent, while underage drinking has decreased 50 percent.
