Governor Kemp Proclaims May 2019 “American Youth In Film” Month
Tuesday, March 26th, 2019
It's OFFICIAL! Governor Brian Kemp has proclaimed May 2019, “American Youth In Film” Month in Georgia to recognize and celebrate the next generation of filmmakers.
The American Youth Film Festival will partner with schools, colleges and entertainment organizations around the state to conduct American Youth In Film entertainment career workshops and provide a pathway for students interested in launching their careers as filmmakers, actors, directors, cinematographers, storytellers and creatives.
The American Youth In Film entertainment career workshops are an extension of The American Youth Film Festival, held in Atlanta, Georgia at The Westin Peachtree Plaza June 12 – 15, 2019. The theme is “Create! Explore! Learn! Launch!” The American Youth Film Festival is an opportunity for students to showcase their creativity in cinematography by presenting original short films produced by, written by, or starring them and/or family or friends produced on cell phones, digital cameras, or advanced recording equipment from student filmmakers. The festival also provides a platform to showcase their talents and share their “love of film or filmmaking”.
The ability for young people to conceptualize, plan, and create their own independent films, facilitated by such modern media as YouTube and Vimeo, allows each film maker to freely express the subjects that interest them. The American Youth Film Festival provides a platform on which these young cinematographers can develop their talents and gain valuable experience in managing projects and actualizing their vision.
