Georgia Lottery officials announced Wednesday that the historic $1.5 billion Mega Millions jackpot generated more than $34.7 million in proceeds for Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship and Pre-K programs.
In addition, Georgia Lottery players won big statewide in Tuesday’s drawing.
Winning numbers from the Oct. 23 drawing were: 5-28-62-65-70 and the Mega Ball was 5.
One jackpot ticket was sold in South Carolina, and 20 tickets worth $10,000 each were sold in Georgia.
The $10,000 tickets were purchased in: Athens, Atlanta (2), Buford, Conyers, Fort Valley, Hinesville, Kennesaw, LaGrange, Marietta (2), Pooler, Rising Fawn, Sandy Springs, Savanah, Tallapoosa (2), Trenton, Villa Rica and Warner Robins.
Additionally, Georgia Lottery players won more than $8.5 million in prizes since the Mega Millions jackpot began rolling in July.
The excitement isn’t over yet, however.
Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot is an estimated $620 million – the third largest in the game’s history.
The Powerball jackpot has grown since Aug. 15 and has rolled 20 times.
Powerball offers two jackpot payment options: the $620 million jackpot prize paid over 29 years in 30 graduated payments; or the cash option, which is approximately $354 million.
Powerball tickets are $2 per play. Players can multiply prizes with the Power Play option for an additional $1 per play.
