Georgia Driver Services Launches New Mobile App DDS 2 GO
Monday, October 29th, 2018
Governor Nathan Deal joined Commissioner Spencer R. Moore at the Georgia Department of Driver Services for the launch of DDS 2 GO -- the official DDS mobile app for driver licensing and testing services. DDS 2 GO is like having a licensing center in your pocket as customers can meet many of their licensing needs from their iPhone or Android device.
“As technology becomes more pervasive in just about every aspect of life, state government and our policies must adjust accordingly,” said Gov. Nathan Deal. “The launch of the DDS 2 GO app is yet another testament to our ongoing efforts to keep pace with these constant developments, as well as the willingness of DDS to embrace mobile technology to benefit our citizens. Here in the No. 1 state for business five times over, we know that Georgians are very busy, and this new app will offer a more convenient method for addressing drivers’ licensing concerns without visiting a DDS facility. I look forward to more innovation of this sort in the future to better serve those who call Georgia home.”
Commissioner Spencer R. Moore urges customers to download DDS 2 GO and “opt in” to receive personalized push alerts from DDS. “You will always be notified of a change in your license,” commented Commissioner Moore. “We hear from customers who were not aware that their license was suspended, and unfortunately, that can result in fines and/or jail time. DDS 2 GO will eliminate that surprise!” The customized alerts will push customers to check DDS 2 GO for any new citations, fees, expiration dates or any other changes that affect their license status.
Teens and first time drivers should access DDS 2 GO for licensing requirements and to study for the driver’s exam. There are many unofficial, fraudulent apps and many of them charge a fee for test preparation and other information. DDS 2 GO is the only official test preparation app for Georgia drivers. Teen drivers are able to request an updated license as they move through Georgia’s teen driver requirements and also request an address change as they move to college.
Not only is DDS 2 GO free but when downloaded users are given a free two-year driving history and may receive a $5 discount when using the app to make a transaction.
