At the October 11, 2018 Board of Education meeting the Better Every Day Award for members of the CCSD community was announced.   The award will be given monthly to one district employee who embodies our mission of ensuring equity and excellence through the implementation of rigorous standards in a safe and supportive environment for every child.

The first recipient of the Better Every Day award is Mr. Mark Martin, a math teacher at Hilsman Middle School. He is also a former CCSD student and graduate of Cedar Shoals High School.

Mr. Martin has embraced the district’s core professional principles of educational equity and excellence by spearheading and creating a Saturday morning math tutorial program for CCSD students. He’s working specifically with students from the Nellie B community. Students in Mr. Martin’s program are provided breakfast and receive high-quality tutoring in math from caring adults like Mr. Martin.
