Anthem Inc. , one of the nation’s leading health benefits companies, is taking steps to help people who may be impacted by Hurricane Michael.
Teams across the company are preparing to help Anthem consumers and residents in the hurricane’s path by providing easier access to prescription medications and resources to access medical treatment or mental health support via Anthem’s LiveHealth Online telehealth service and Anthem’s Employee Assistance Program.
Anthem affiliated health plan consumers in impacted areas in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina whose drug plan medication has been lost or damaged due to Hurricane Michael can get refills at any pharmacy.
Consumers who need medical or therapy support can access LiveHealth Online, Anthem’s 24/7 telehealth platform, via the LiveHealth Online app and website at www.livehealthonline.com/michael. LiveHealth Online offers video visits with U.S.-based board-certified doctors and psychologists on a mobile device or computer from anywhere for non-emergency health conditions. Anyone in Florida who downloads the mobile app and registers will be able to access a free online visit by selecting the “Help for Michael” button. The free visit offer will be available through December 31, 2018. As a reminder, Georgia and North Carolina residents can still access free doctor visits on LiveHealth Online by clicking on the “Help for Florence” button.
Additionally, Anthem’s EAP provides resources that help with a number of life events and stressful situations. EAP’s tools will be offered at no cost and can be used to help manage emotional and mental health well-being, financial and legal concerns. “Consumers who want to access Anthem’s EAP can call the 24/7 EAP crisis line at 877-208-8240 or access EAP offerings by visiting www.anthemeap.com and using the login code “Hurricane Michael.”
The Anthem Foundation has partnered with the American Red Cross as a $1 million-level member of the Annual Disaster Giving Program. Through this funding, the Red Cross is working with partners to prepare evacuation centers, trained disaster workers, relief supplies and vehicles to help people in the affected area. Anthem Foundation has also provided grants to AmeriCares, Direct Relief and Portlight Strategies, Inc. to support impacted residents. Finally, the Foundation has pledged to match two dollars for every dollar Anthem associates donate to the aforementioned organizations and to Anthem’s employee assistance fund.
By implementing these proactive measures Anthem is working to ensure that consumers in our affiliated health plans and other individuals living in Florida, Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina receive the health care services they need. Anthem members affected by Hurricane Michael are encouraged to contact Customer Service with questions by using the number on the back of their member ID card.
