Ahead of Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing, state officials and elected leaders from Georgia sent letters to the United States Senate Judiciary Committee in support of Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the United States Supreme Court:
 
Governor Nathan Deal: “As Judge Kavanaugh stated in his remarks to the nation, his judicial philosophy is straightforward. He believes a judge must be independent and open-minded and must interpret the law as written. As his record shows, he will interpret the Constitution as written, informed by history, tradition, and precedent.
