What’ll ya have? Atlanta’s iconic family-owned and operated restaurant, The Varsity, will celebrate its 90th anniversary this Saturday, August 18. All menu items will be priced at $0.90 at all five restaurants (Atlanta, Athens, Dawsonville, Kennesaw and Norcross).

At the original location on North Avenue in Midtown, The Varsity will host family-friendly activities, including balloon twisters, a DJ, face painters, Mayfield ice cream truck, touch a truck and a photo booth. There will also be remarks and special guest appearances by Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Mayfield Dairy Farms' Scottie Mayfield, Georgia Tech’s Buzz and Ramblin’ Wreck, Atlanta Hawks’ Harry the Hawk and Atlanta Braves’ Blooper.

Throughout the summer, The Varsity has been selling commemorative cups. With the purchase of a $5.99 limited edition cup, guests receive free refills on soft drinks for the remainder of 2018 and $0.90 refills on Frosted Oranges and milkshakes. A limited supply of cups are still available.

100 percent of cup sales will go directly to Shepherd’s Men. As part of its anniversary celebration, The Varsity pledged $90,000 to the organization, which raises money for the SHARE Military Initiative at Shepherd Center in Atlanta. SHARE is a comprehensive rehabilitation program focused on the assessment and treatment of military veterans who have sustained a mild to moderate Traumatic Brain Injury and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder from service in the post-9/11 wars.

At Saturday’s event, The Varsity will present its contribution to Shepherd’s Men.
