K. Scott Collins, CPA, Elected Chair of GSCPA Board of Directors

K. Scott Collins, CPA, owner of Collins/Moody + Company, PC of Athens, has been elected chair of The Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants Board of Directors for the 2018-19 fiscal year. Collins was selected at the Society’s annual business meeting in Banff, Alberta, Canada. “Scott’s dedication to his profession, community and clients is commendable,” says GSCPA CEO Boyd Search. “His ability to adapt to the changes within the profession and find joy within new challenges will keep GSCPA future-focused in 2018.”
During his one-year term as chair, Collins is looking forward to working on the many initiatives facing the profession at state and national levels, including recruiting the next generation of CPAs, cleaning up the GSCPA bylaws, working closely with chapters and the new special interest groups, diversity and inclusion, or any legislative curveballs that may come the profession’s way. He wants to continue supporting the Educational Foundation of The Georgia Society of CPAs. “We want to make sure it stays on track, supporting high-caliber students in their pursuit of an accounting career,” Collins says.
A 38-year member of GSCPA, Collins has served as president of The Educational Foundation and as a former chair of GSCPA’s Bylaws and Budget committees. In addition to his service to GSCPA, Collins has also served on the Board and as president and treasurer of the Sandy Creek Nature Center, is an active member at First Presbyterian Church, where he currently serves as treasurer, and next year will serve as president of the Sons of the American Revolution. He holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Georgia Southwestern State University.
