SOS Brian Kemp Reminds Six License Groups to Renew Before June 30th Deadline
Thursday, May 10th, 2018
Secretary of State Brian Kemp reminds athletic trainers, electrical contractors, residential and general contractors, librarians, professional engineering firms, and land surveyor firms to renew their professional licenses by June 30, 2018. There are 39,570 licensed individuals and businesses up for renewal in these six groups. Kemp encourages licensees to take advantage of the new online renewal portals to cut down on paperwork and wait times.
“As Secretary of State, I have focused on identifying and implementing ways to make government work better for Georgia’s workforce,” stated Secretary Kemp. “Our state’s labor force is crucial to continued economic development and growth in our great state, and that is why we have made renewing professional licenses as simple and easy as possible. I strongly encourage licensees to take advantage of this streamlined process by renewing online.”
To renew your professional license, visit the Professional Licensing Board’s website by the expiration date to complete the online renewal process. Consult the office’s step-by-step instructions for assistance. Once you have submitted payment and verified renewal, you can print your payment receipt and professional license. Please remember to submit continuing education documents if you have been selected for an audit.
If a license holder fails to renew their license before the appropriate deadline, a late fee will be imposed to bring the expired license into compliance. Georgia law prohibits professional license holders from conducting unlicensed practice, which includes practicing with an expired license. Your license will lapse if you fail to renew it by the end of the established late renewal period. If your license lapses, you must apply for reinstatement and meet all application requirements. Reinstatement of any license is at the discretion of the board.
