Lt. Governor Casey Cagle announced that the Georgia Youth Outdoors Passport Act (SB 332) was officially signed into law. This legislation launches a new and innovative program focused on introducing Georgia’s families and youth to the outdoors, encouraging more Georgians to participate in outdoor sports at lower costs.

“Georgia’s natural resources are abundant, and it’s important that our families participate in hunting and fishing activities to carry on our rich outdoor traditions,” said Lt. Governor Cagle. “I’m grateful for the leadership of Senator Tyler Harper and so many organizations across our state which supported the passage of this significant legislation, as I’m confident it will yield great results for our families and youth.”

SB 332, sponsored by Senator Tyler Harper, establishes the Outdoor Passport License Program, enabling first-time hunters and anglers of all ages to receive an Outdoor Passport License at a reduced cost. The legislation also creates an outdoor mentor training program at the Department of Natural Resources, allowing Georgia’s outdoorsmen and women to teach our state’s celebrated pastimes to our next generation.

“We’re lucky to live in a state that is connected to our food supply and natural resources, and it’s vital that we promote outdoor sports through an experienced network,” added Senator Harper. “I applaud Lt. Governor Cagle for his leadership in developing a program that will allow more young Georgians to learn about hunting and fishing while developing respect for Georgia’s great outdoors."
