What looks to be a sidewalk along State Route 10 loop, is actually a cable barrier installation project that spans 19 miles from Clarke to Oconee County . The concrete portion drivers are recently observing is called a mow strip and will allow for easier maintenance when it comes time to mow the median. 

This project will help increase safety for drivers on State Route 10 loop, and work will continue throughout the summer months. Intermittent lane closures during the evening between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. are permitted and drivers are reminded to drive alert. 

Massana Construction, Inc. was awarded the project in November of 2017 and it has a scheduled completion date of August 31, 2018.
