Sen. Isakson’s Annual Military Service Academy Day for Georgia Students Will be Held on April 28th
Tuesday, April 17th, 2018
U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., urged Georgia families to register early for his annual statewide U.S. Military Service Academy Day. The event will take place at Dobbins Air Reserve Base on April 28, 2018, in coordination with the Georgia congressional delegation.
Registration is required by April 23, 2018, for all attendees due to security restrictions at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, but there is no cost to attend. The event is open to students in grades eight through 12 and their parents.
Isakson’s Military Service Academy Day is the largest event of its kind in the country and typically draws hundreds of students and families from across the state of Georgia.
The program is designed to provide students with information about attending the nation’s five military service academies, including the application, nomination and appointment process.
“We are so glad to again welcome Georgia students and families for this unique opportunity,” said Isakson. “I urge families to register early to learn about the nomination process directly from high-ranking representatives from each academy.
“We are also pleased to have so many members of the Georgia congressional delegation working with us and participating again this year,” added Isakson.
Along with Isakson, U.S. Representatives Karen Handel, R-Ga.-06, Hank Johnson, D-Ga.-04, Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga.-11, and Rob Woodall, R-Ga.-07, are scheduled to attend the event.
Representatives from all five academies – the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Military Academy – will deliver presentations regarding their requirements and expectations for admittance.
The Lassiter-Pope-Kell Navy Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Armed Exhibition Drill Team will perform at the beginning of the program, a local highlight at Military Service Academy Day.
