Ron Suber Named Opening Keynote of FinTech South

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Monday, March 12th, 2018

FinTech South, the Southeast’s largest event dedicated to financial innovation, announces Ron Suber will open the event as a keynote speaker. Presenting on the topic, “You are either as scared as you have ever been or more excited than ever," Suber will address the pressure that incumbents and disrupters are feeling along with some of the solutions. The conference will be a global exchange of insights, innovations and trends fueling tomorrow's financial tech industry. Hosted by the Technology Association of Georgia, FinTech South is taking place May 7 – 8, 2018 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga.

Opening the inaugural event, Suber is one of fintech’s most recognizable advocates and thought leaders. He joined Prosper Marketplace in 2013 and reinvigorated the small online lender, which at the time had only $9 million in monthly loan originations. Today, Prosper originates more than $10 billion in loans, and is a leading marketplace lending platform.

“This conference is a testament to the region’s growth and leadership in the fintech space, to attract 400 leading companies in an incredible feat,” says Suber. “I’m excited to join the event’s impressive team of organizers and presenters, and equally as eager to engage with attendees on the evolution the financial industry is experiencing and how companies can take advantage of this booming era in fintech.”

An active investor in dozens of early stage fintech firms, including the Vice Chairman role at Credible, Suber has spent years evangelizing on the need to improve upon existing analog financial services. He believes fintech can provide access to sophisticated banking services for the underbanked at a far lower cost.

“We are thrilled to have Ron serve as our opening keynote speaker,” shares Andrew Morris, chief content officer for Money20/20 USA and content chair for FinTech South. “Ron brings an amazing energy and generosity to everything he does. There is no better way to set the stage than to have Ron share his perspective on the opportunities and challenges ahead, including how financial industry incumbents and emerging fintech startups will increasingly need to collaborate to best meet the needs of their customers.”

Since officially departing the fintech he helped to create, the former President of Prosper has been touring the globe sharing his vision of the future of finance. His main platform, the “Golden Age of FinTech,” reveals the industry’s position in the middle 10 years of a 50-year innovation cycle, which began with PayPal in 1998 and was accelerated by online lenders in 2006.
