Sen. Isakson: Azar Has Experience, Judgment to Lead Department of Health and Human Services

U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., applauded the Senate confirmation of Alex Azar to lead the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which also oversees the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Ga. Azar was confirmed by a vote of 55-43.
 
“As we return the focus of the Department of Health and Human Services to the needs of patients, I am confident that Alex Azar has the experience, judgment and foresight we need,” said Isakson, a member of the Senate Committee on Finance, which has jurisdiction over much of the American healthcare system. “I am pleased that the Senate acted swiftly on this qualified candidate, and I look forward to working with him and his team at the department in the months ahead.”
 
Azar was approved by the Senate Committee on Finance by a vote of 15-12 on Jan. 17, 2018.
