Rocky Branch Elementary School has been commended by national organization Common Sense for preparing students to use the power of digital tools to create and explore, while learning and collaborating safely.
"We are honored to be recognized as a Common Sense School," said Principal Laura Mason. "By preparing our students to use technology safely and responsibly, we are providing them unlimited opportunities to maximize and personalize their learning."
Common Sense Education’s resources, created in collaboration with Harvard University professor Howard Gardner, provide student, educator and parent resources related to internet safety, protecting online reputations, protecting personal privacy, managing online relationships to reduce cyberbullying and respecting creative copyright. The provided resources are free and are used in over 100,000 classrooms across the nation.
"We applaud the faculty and staff of Rocky Branch Elementary for embracing digital citizenship as an important part of their students' education," said Liz Kline, VP, Education Programs, Common Sense Education. "Rocky Branch Elementary deserves high praise for giving its students the foundational skills they need to compete and succeed in the 21st century workplace and participate ethically in society at large."
