Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr announced endorsements for his 2018 election from lawmakers across Georgia.
Georgia Governor Nathan Deal, House Speaker David Ralston, Senate President Pro-Tempore Butch Miller and other elected Constitutional officers, along with a majority of the Georgia Legislature – 121 members – announced their support for Carr’s campaign.
“When I began my term as Georgia’s Attorney General, I made a commitment to find common ground, build trust and do all I could to ensure that Georgians remain safe, free and prosperous,” said Carr. “I’m proud to defend the Constitution and laws of the state of Georgia, and I have continued to work closely with many members of the the Georgia General Assembly to protect our state and its citizens.
“I am thankful for the support of these great leaders who we are working with side-by-side on the critical issues facing our state. It means a great deal to have so many respected officials who support our goals and are standing with us in our campaign.”
Soon after taking office, Carr was named to the Human Trafficking Committee of the National Association of Attorneys General. During the 2017 legislative session, Carr backed legislation that has strengthened efforts to prosecute human traffickers and those who patronize or solicit victims of this modern-day slavery.
“I appointed Chris because his experience as an attorney, job creator and public servant made him the best candidate to fill the role of Georgia’s Attorney General,” said Governor Deal. “After more than a year on the job, Chris has shown that he is a strong leader. He’s not afraid to take on the tough issues. I’m proud to endorse his candidacy.”
“Since taking office as Georgia’s Attorney General, Chris has traveled the state to share the many ways the Attorney General works every day for them, their families and their communities,” said House Speaker David Ralston, R-Blue Ridge. “Chris has brought great passion to the fight against opioid abuse, human trafficking, and gang activity and has elevated awareness about cybersecurity and elder abuse. I’m proud to endorse him as he asks Georgians for their vote.”
In November 2017, Carr was selected to serve as a member of the 2017-2018 executive committee board of the Republican Attorneys General Association.
