The Georgia Department of Economic Development announced that Briggs & Stratton, the largest producer of gasoline engines for outdoor power equipment, will create more than 50 jobs and invest $18 million in the expansion of its existing manufacturing facility in Bulloch County.

“We’re proud that an industry leader like Briggs & Stratton has chosen to expand its facility and employment roster here,” said Georgia Governor Nathan Deal. “This expansion is a vote of confidence for the strategic location, logistics advantages and skilled workforce that Georgia has to offer for manufacturers. With this expansion, Briggs & Stratton will continue to grow its presence throughout the Southeast, while creating meaningful opportunities in Bulloch County. We look forward to continuing this relationship with Briggs & Stratton for years to come.”

This expansion will accommodate a new engine line with unique tooling, machining assets and assembly operations.

“Briggs & Stratton has been an excellent addition to our solid advanced manufacturing network,” said GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson. “This leading manufacturing company has access to a skilled workforce among other pro-business resources in Bulloch County. It’s clear that Briggs & Stratton made the right choice to continue doing business in Statesboro, and this expansion will support their growth as they work to meet the needs of their customers.”

Briggs & Stratton currently employs 370 associates in its Statesboro plant. Newly created jobs include executive, administrative, supervisory and production positions.

GDEcD regional project manager, Alyce Thornhill, represented the Global Commence division in partnership with the Bulloch County Development Authority.
