Tuesday, September 12th, 2017
The SunTrust Foundation announced it will commit a total of $500,000 to various disaster relief and recovery efforts in support of the communities and businesses impacted by Hurricane Irma.
Immediately, the SunTrust Foundation is giving $250,000 to the American Red Cross to aid
first-responders as they bring relief to those who've lost their homes and need food and shelter. An additional $250,000 is earmarked to assist other organizations as ongoing needs are identified.
"The American Red Cross needs immediate assistance, and our grant of $250,000 will go toward initial recovery efforts to ensure everyone's safety," said David Fuller, president of the SunTrust Foundation. "As we continue to assess the outcome of the hurricane, we will provide additional grants to local non-profits to help people rebuild and ensure their well-being."
Established in 2008, the SunTrust Foundation supports American Red Cross disaster relief efforts and primarily focuses grants and activities on advancing financial education, financial counseling, career readiness and small business entrepreneurship, in addition to local community grants.
SunTrust Bank also will accept financial donations for American Red Cross relief efforts in branches through Oct. 13.
