Oconee County Schools #2 in State for SAT Achievement

Oconee County Schools has earned a mean SAT composite score of 1151 for the 2017 testing period, well above state and national mean scores. OCS is ranked #2 in the state, and is the top scoring district with 200 or more test-takers. Oconee is just one of two systems ranked in the top 10 in Northeast Georgia.
“I commend our students and teachers for their hard work that led to this exceptional SAT achievement,” said Superintendent Jason Branch. “We are very proud of our entire school community, and celebrate their tremendous accomplishments. The levels of academic excellence achieved each year continue to improve and, in doing so, continue to demonstrate how well-prepared our students are for success post-graduation.”
College Board redesigned the SAT for 2017, with two sections: 1) evidence-based reading and writing and 2) mathematics. The results set a new baseline for future year comparisons. The mean 2017 score for the state of Georgia is 1050, and the mean score for the U.S. is 1060.
Oconee County Schools also holds the #2 ranking in the state of Georgia for ACT achievement, with an average score of 24 – up from the Georgia average of 21.4 and the U.S. average of 21. Ninety-six percent of graduates report their plans to attend college post-graduation, and the district’s 2016 graduation rate is 95.6%.
