Gov. Nathan Deal announced senior administration nominations and appointments for multiple state agencies. Deal recommended Christopher Nunn to serve as Commissioner of the Department of Community Affairs. Nunn’s appointment follows current DCA Commissioner Camila Knowles’ announcement that she will depart at the end of September for a position in the private sector. Pending DCA board approval, this change will take effect October 1. Deal also appointed Georgia Student Finance Commission President Shawn Ryan to fill the position of Commissioner of the Department of Administrative Services. The appointment will take effect on October 1. Pending board approval, GSFC Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer Caylee Noggle will fill the vacancy left by Ryan’s departure as interim President of GSFC, also effective October 1.

I wish her the best in her future endeavors as she transitions to the private sector. I’m confident the incoming leadership at DCA, along with DOAS and GSFC, will continue advancing the needs of and serving Georgians throughout the state.”
 
Christopher Nunn – Commissioner, Department of Community Affairs
Nunn is currently the commissioner of the Georgia Department of Administrative Services. He was previously the deputy commissioner of DCA. Prior to joining state government, Nunn led a midsize, Atlanta-based professional services firm and worked as a management consultant focused on strategic planning, leadership development and process improvement. A native of Perry, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and a master’s degree from the University of St. Andrews. Nunn and his wife, Nancy, have two children and live in Atlanta.
 
Shawn Ryan – Commissioner, Georgia Department of Administrative Services
Ryan is currently the president of the Georgia Student Finance Commission, which administers the state’s post-secondary scholarship, grant and financial aid programs. He previously served as the director of Georgia’s Integrated Eligibility System, the largest information technology project in state history, and as director of communications for the Georgia Department of Public Health. Ryan has more than a decade of experience in Washington, D.C., where he worked in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as for the Mortgage Bankers Association and the Heritage Foundation. He is a graduate of the University of Vermont. Ryan and his wife, Jennifer, live in Atlanta and are parishioners at the Cathedral of Christ the King.
 
Caylee Noggle – Interim President, Georgia Student Finance Commission
Noggle is currently the chief operating officer and chief financial officer for GSFC. She has more than a decade of state government experience in Georgia, including various roles at GSFC, the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget and within the University System of Georgia. Noggle has served in leadership capacities and on committees for the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, the National Council of Higher Education Loan Programs and the Georgia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Millikin University and a master’s degree in College Student Affairs from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. Noggle and her family live in Tucker and are members of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
