C. Rhodes McLanahan, president and CEO of First American Bank & Trust in Athens, was elected to serve on the board of directors of the Georgia Bankers Association.

McLanahan was nominated by his peers in northeast Georgia to serve the two-year term.

“I was delighted when Rhodes’ colleagues in this region elected him as their representative to the board. He is a strong banker who will provide valuable leadership to the GBA as one of its directors,” said Palmer Proctor, GBA chairman and president and CEO of Fidelity Bank in Atlanta.

McLanahan also serves on the GBA Community Bankers Committee.

McLanahan joined First American Bank & Trust in 1999 as chief operating officer. McLanahan was elected to the bank’s board of directors in 2013 and named president and CEO in 2016.

McLanahan earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Georgia. He is also a graduate of the GBA’s Georgia Banking School and the Graduate School of Banking at LSU.

In his community, McLanahan serves on the board of directors of the St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation.
