Volunteers Needed for Athens-Clarke County Boards

The Athens-Clarke County government is asking for applicants to fill positions on policy-making boards.

The positions are unpaid and those who wish to take part will be volunteering their time to attend meetings.

Basic information about each position is available at www.athensclarkecounty.com/bacs.

Anyone applying for a position must be residents of the county and registered to vote in Athens-Clarke County.

Applications can be filled out online at www.athensclarkecounty.com/clerkofcommission or obtained from the Clerk of Commission’s office in Room 204 of City Hall, 301 College Avenue. The deadline for receiving applications is Friday, June 16.

The Mayor and Commission is tentatively scheduled to interview applicants on June 27 and tentatively scheduled to make appointments at their Regular Session meeting on July 6.

The positions are as follows:

Three positions on the Athens Downtown Development Authority: two positions for terms of two years and one position for a partial term that will expire July 31, 2018.

One position on the Department of Family and Children Services Board for a term of five years.

One position on the Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Addictive Diseases Region 2 Advisory Council for a term of three years.

Four positions on the Vision Committee: three positions for terms of three years and one position for a partial term that will expire June 30, 2018.
