Free Tour of Athens Galleries to be Held Thursday

Five Athens area public art galleries plan to stay open late on Thursday to showcase their exhibitions as part of the the Third Thursday evening art tour.

Sponsored by The Classic Center Cultural Foundation, the tours run 6-9 p.m. and are offered for free. Those attending can start the tour at any of the participating venues.

Tour stops include:

  • The Lyndon House Arts Center will feature new exhibitions — “Beloved Land: A Series by David Hale,” “Time Warp … and Weft,” “To & Fro: Correspondence Art by Jack Logan and Kosmo Vinyl,” and “In Wood and Word: Bible Scenes carved by Cal Logue.”

  • Cine will feature “Dance This, Fight That” by Zuzka Vaclavik.

  • Hotel Indigo will present “Rock Paper Scissors,” which features works of art about paper, and “Rainbow Cube,” a holographic art experience.

  • The Classic Center will present a summer-themed “Warm Days, Cool Nights” exhibit in its Gallery I, and watercolor portraits from Jackie Dorsey in Gallery II.

  • The Georgia Museum of Art will showcase “Michael Ellison: Urban Impressions,” and “The Past Is Never Dead: Kristin Casaletto.”
