The Georgia Manufacturing Alliance has an action packed plant tour schedule for June that includes high tech facilities across the state. With 5 regional chapters in Gwinnett, Northeast, Northwest, Central, and Coastal Georgia, this month will include tours in each area including:
Peening Technologies Plant Tour (Morning) - June 7 - Austell
Attendees will see the latest technology in shot peening, abrasive blasting and surface enhancement services to the aerospace, automotive, power generation, medical, oil and gas exploration industries. Learn the little-known process that is critical to thousands of parts that interact with things you use in everyday life.
KIA Motors Plant Tour (Morning & Afternoon Tour) - June 13 - West Point
Due to high demand this tour is open to Georgia Manufacturing Alliance Members Only
Located on 2,200 acres in West Point, Georgia, this facility has produced more than 2 million vehicles since they began mass production in November 2009. Tour attendees will see the Kia Sorento and Kia Optima produced from rolled metal all the way to the finished product using high tech stamping, weld shop robotics, and assembly processes. They produce a vehicle every 57 seconds utilizing three full shifts operating at the plant 24 hours a day/five days per week.
KRAIBURG Plant Tour (Morning Tour)- June 15 - Buford
KRAIBURG TPE is a global manufacturer of themoplastic elastomers and is a pioneer in TPE compounds used in the automotive, industrial, consumer, and strictly regulated medical sectors. Their production lines are processed by injection molding or extrusion and provide numerous processing and product design advantages to manufacturers.
Beaulieu Carpets Plant Tour (Afternoon Tour) - June 15 - Adairsville
As the third largest carpet manufacturer in the U.S., Beaulieu USA produces a carpet tile with a high post-consumer recycled content which includes PET bottles and recycled glass. This plant manufactures and ships Nexterra and other brands of modular carpet tile which is used in commercial, hospitality, senior living, and residential markets.
Daniel Defense Plant Tour (Afternoon Tour)- June 23 - Black Creek
Daniel Defense manufactures a variety of items related to firearms including its own custom variants of the AR-15 rifle, advanced rail systems, custom upper receivers, and advanced barrels. Established in 2001, they have grown to be one of the largest competitors in the AR-15 firearms market and supply the US Special Operations Command and the UK's Ministry of Defense.
