“March for Science” Rally Planned for April 22nd in Athens

Staff Report From Athens CEO

Thursday, April 6th, 2017

Supporters of science will rally on Saturday, April 22, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Federal Courthouse, 115 E. Hancock Avenue in Athens.

Science is critical to our wellbeing. Scientific data underlies everything we do, from education to agriculture, from national defense to disaster response, from medicine to manufacturing.  This Athens rally, a satellite event of the national March for Science, is a show of support for science as a discipline, for the importance of research and scientific understanding, and for the many workers and businesses whose lives and livelihoods depend on a robust scientific enterprise.

Timed to coincide with the March for Science occurring in Washington D.C. and in cities around the globe, the rally will feature speakers and kids’ activities including a “Picture Yourself as a Scientist” selfie station. We welcome everyone in the Athens community and all our G-Day visitors.
