Athens First Bank &Trust branches are hosting a book drive during the month of April to benefit Books for Keeps.

AFB&T is supporting Books for Keeps as part of Synovus’ company-wide “Here Matters” community outreach program, which focuses on three areas of local community service: education, needs-based opportunities, and health and welfare.

Books for Keeps is a nonprofit organization based in Athens that provides books to children whose reading opportunities outside of school might be limited due to geography, income or other factors. For more information, go online to www.booksforkeeps.org

Book collection stations will be set up in each AFB&T Athens, Oconee and Hartwell branch locations. The community is encouraged to donate used books that will be sold during Books for Keeps’ annual book sale. Funds generated from the sale will be used to purchase age-appropriate books for K-12 children.
