Sherry Clouser and Nancy Walton of 100+ Women Who Care Athens presented checks totaling $3,550 to YWCO Executive Director Kitty Meyran for the YWCO Girls Club.
100+ Women Who Care Athens is part of the 100 Women Who Care Alliance started in Jackson, Mich., in 2006 by Karen Dunigan. The Athens chapter held its first meeting in 2015 and has met quarterly ever since, donating $21,650 to local nonprofit organizations.
Girls Club provides educational and recreational activities that build self-confidence, teach good decision-making, encourage education attainment and promote healthy lifestyles. During the program, Girls Club participants will engage in many recreational activities such as swimming, sports and games, arts and crafts, performing arts and field trips. Campers are mentored and encouraged to focus on improving academics, financial management skills and job attainment skills.
Registration for Girls Club camp is now open. Girls Club is open to girls and young women in the Athens area ages 5 to 14. Families can register at the YWCO (562 Research Drive) .
