Kemp: Less Than One Month Remains to File Annual Business Registrations
Friday, March 17th, 2017
Less than one month remains for all corporations, limited liability companies, limited partnerships, and non-profits to renew their annual registrations with the Georgia Secretary of State’s Corporations Division. Secretary Kemp reminds officers and agents of business entities registered in Georgia that the annual registration renewal deadline is 11:59 p.m. on April 1, 2017. If a business fails to renew by the deadline, it must pay a $25.00 late filing penalty fee or risk administrative dissolution.
With the deadline on the horizon, Kemp encourages officers and agents to file their annual registrations using the office’s eCorp website. Since the system’s launch in June 2015, customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive due to the user-friendly and easily navigable interface to process annual registrations.
“We took the ideas of business owners and attorneys who use our website every day and created a better system. Now, I believe Georgia has the best corporations filing system out there,” stated Secretary Kemp. “To manage your business, the process should be easy, and our message should be simple: government will get out of your way.”
During the registration period, officers and registered agents can visit the website without having to log into the system and select one of two options: “One Click Annual Registration” if there are no changes to be made to their business filings or “Express Annual Registration” to update contact information or make other changes.
The website’s user guide and video tutorials – including the Walking Dead-inspired “The End Is Near” – are great assets for customers to resolve renewal hang-ups. As an alternative means of communication to the office, individuals can also submit email inquiries or contact Secretary Kemp through his Facebook or Twitter account for help navigating the system.
Customers can still log in to https://ecorp.sos.ga.gov/Account to view or download their business’s receipts, notices, and other correspondence in one convenient location. All customers are encouraged to renew their existing business entities and provide at least one valid email address with their filing for future renewal notices and important notifications.
In addition to online registration on the new Corporations website, customers also have the option to file hard copy annual registrations in person or mail annual registrations with a check or money order to the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office at one of three locations: the Corporations Division in Atlanta, the Professional Licensing Boards Division in Macon, or the agency’s South Georgia office in Tifton. Mailed applications must be postmarked by April 1. Cash is not an acceptable form of payment for renewal or registration fees.
