Georgia Cyber Academy Now Accepting Enrollment for 2017-18 School Year
Friday, March 3rd, 2017
Georgia Cyber Academy, an accredited, full-time online public charter school, welcomes families with students in kindergarten through 12th grade to enroll for the 2017-18 academic year. Open to all students who reside in Georgia, GCA combines online instruction, hands-on curriculum and the support of Georgia-licensed teachers to cultivate an individualized education for each student.
The first virtual charter school in Georgia and currently the largest public school in the state, GCA serves students from all 159 counties across the state. As a public school option, there is no tuition.
“Although GCA may be a virtual school, the real accomplishments of our students, graduates, and nearly 600 teachers and staff continue to amaze. GCA has proven it is a strong statewide community united in the goal of giving our students an individualized education that lets them reach their full potential,” said Matt Arkin, head of school at Georgia Cyber Academy. “An exceptional education means having choices, and GCA is here to give Georgia families across the state the opportunity to select a public school option which best suits their needs.”
The school’s rigorous and engaging curriculum includes courses in English/language arts, math, science, history, world languages, art and music, as well as elective and Advanced Placement® courses for high school students. Students can also take advantage of the opportunity to enroll in dual-enrollment classes at over 40 Georgia colleges and universities, including Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia.
State-certified teachers provide instruction, guidance and support, interacting with students and parents via email, web-based classrooms, online discussions, phone and face-to-face meetings.
GCA’s curriculum is designed to let students discover and nurture their own learning style in order to ensure they achieve mastery of topics and skills. GCA gives advanced learners the ability to progress faster through subjects in which they excel, while students who need to spend more time in certain subject areas are able to do so. Teachers work closely with each student’s parent or guardian to identify the best path for success.
During the enrollment period, GCA will be conducting online and in-person information sessions throughout the state. Interested families are encouraged to attend to meet teachers, staff and other families and to learn more about the award-winning curriculum provided by K12 Inc., the nation’s leading K-12 curriculum provider.
