The Office of the Attorney General of Georgia recently authored an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court, which 14 states joined, asking the Court to provide guidance on issues related to the integrity of state voter registration rolls.
“Maintaining accurate and current voter-registration rolls prevents voter fraud and protects the value of each American citizen’s vote,” said Attorney General Chris Carr. “We led this 15-state coalition because States need clear guidance about what they can do, and what they cannot do, as they work to fulfill their obligations under federal law to maintain accurate and current voter-registration rolls. Georgia’s amicus brief asks the U.S. Supreme Court to provide that guidance and highlights the American people’s profound interest in fair elections.”
Fourteen states joined Attorney General Carr’s amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court: Alaska, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia.
