There are many bars in Athens, but just one was chosen by delish.com as one of the 51 Best College Bars In America.

The Globe, the downtown bar on Lumpkin Street, nabbed the honor from the online food and drink magazine. The entry reads “those looking for a fun evening out, go to The Globe for fish & chips and a casual pub vibe. UGA students and professors even gather here for meet and greets during the semester.”

This is not the first time he Irish-style pub, which opened in 1989, was named a top bar by a magazine. In 2007 Esquire named it one of the Best Bars in America. The bar also garnered some big screen exposure when it was used as a backdrop in the 2012 Clint Eastwood movie “Trouble With the Curve.”
