The University of Georgia School of Law’s Staff Representative Group recently presented Circulation Manager Marie R. Mize with the 2016 Emma Terrell Distinguished Employee Award. The honor is given each year to an employee who demonstrates dedication and service to the law school.

Mize joined Georgia Law in 2008, and she serves as the circulation manager of the law school’s Alexander Campbell King Law Library. Mize also serves as vice chair of the university’s Staff Council, and in this role she is UGA’s representative to the University System of Georgia Staff Council.

She was recognized for her commitment to the law school. According to written nominations, Mize was described as bright, dedicated and “an inspiration to colleagues” who offers “superior customer service” and gives “100 percent effort.” One law student who nominated Mize for the award noted that she had made a positive impact on the individual’s law school experience. Nominations also stated that her “work product shows great skill … her work ethic is beyond reproach and she never misses a detail.”

Mize earned her undergraduate degree from Kennesaw State University and her M.B.A. from Auburn University. Prior to joining Georgia Law, she was an area manager for Remington Products and a store manager for Timex Watches. She currently is the assistant director for the Moina Michael Poppy Project, a nonprofit that works to better the lives of veterans through fundraising and education.
