St. Mary's Named to 100 Hospitals List for Neurosurgery/Spine Care

Becker's Hospital Review is pleased to release the 2016 edition of its list of 100 Hospital and Health Systems with Great Neurosurgery and Spine Programs, featuring hospitals and health systems leading the way in neurosciences and providing treatment for patients with various brain and spine conditions.
St. Mary's Health Care System is among the hospitals recognized in this year's list. St. Mary's was the first community hospital in the U.S. to gain Joint Commission certification in stroke care, and is the first Advanced Primary Stroke Center in the Athens area. Physicians in the neurosciences program treat ailments including spinal cord injury, brain tumors, headaches, Parkinson's disease and stroke. In its most recent rankings, CareChex named St. Mary's as No. 5 in Georgia for stroke care, and Healthgrades honored the hospital with its America's 100 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care Award for 2017. Healthgrades' also honored St. Mary's with the 2017 Neurosciences Excellence Award. Additionally, St. Mary's is a designated Blue Distinction Center+ for Spine Surgery.
