The 4th annual “Honor the Military Veterans Day” at Athens First Methodist Church takes place with a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

The event is sponsored by the church seniors as an early Thanksgiving meal to honor military veterans in the greater Athens area.

Lt. Col. Arthur “Bud” Kinney, a decorated army veteran, is the featured speaker. Kinney received 26 awards and decorations during his military career and is currently president of the Athens Area Military Office Association of America.

Isaiah Fekon, a vocalist with the University of Georgia opera, will sing and the color guard from Clarke Central High School will perform.

All veterans are invited. The registration deadline is noon Monday. The meal is $6. To register call (706) 543-1442.
