LAD Truck Lines General Manager Mack H. "Dutch" Guest IV recently graduated with the third class of the American Trucking Associations LEAD ATA industry leadership program.

LEAD ATA is a selective one-year leadership program for trucking executives across different segments, regions, and fleet sizes. The program is designed to educate up-and-coming industry leaders on the tools and resources available through the ATA, an understanding of the regulatory and legislative process on their trucking business and how the ATA works with congressional leaders on their behalf.

“Finding out what the ATA does for our industry in Washington has been an eye opener,” Guest said. “Networking with other companies is priceless, we all have the same issues and learning how the ATA lobby’s for our industry has been a great experience.”

LEAD ATA participants also toured other trucking operations and learned best practices across the country. Since graduating from the program, Guest has maintained his relationships with contacts and his classmates and applied the knowledge garnered from them and the program to continue to grow business at LAD.

“This was the third class of the program and it’s really gaining speed,” said Guest, 32. “It is so important for the young people in this industry to get involved and learn about the ATA and what it can do for their businesses and our industry in the future.”

Guest is a native of Gainesville, Ga.  In addition to his role as general manager of truck lines, he oversees the company’s warehouse & records management division, LAD Records Management. He and his wife Mary Beth reside in Oconee County with their children, Sara Elizabeth and Mack Holland Guest V.
