Friday, September 9th, 2016
In conjunction with the 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the Vietnam War, representatives with the Georgia Department of Veterans Service visited the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home on Wednesday to present special certificates and commemorative lapel pins to dozens of residents in recognition of their service during the Vietnam War.
Certificates were personalized with each Vietnam War veteran’s name, rank, branch of service and service dates, and they were presented individually by Georgia’s Veterans Service Commissioner Mike Roby during a 2 p.m. ceremony at the Blue Goose.
About 234,000 men and women from Georgia served in the Vietnam War, and Gov. Nathan Deal and GDVS is working to honor each of them. For more information on the Vietnam War commemoration program, visit http://veterans.ga.gov/vietnam.
